Newly built rental real estate - scheduled end of the Pinel law in 2024
What is the Pinel scheme?
Since 2014, it allows individuals investing in newly built rental real estate to benefit from reductions in their income tax if the housing meets certain conditions.
The end of the Pinel
As of January 1, 2023, the tax reduction benefits of the Pinel scheme have been gradually reduced until 2024, the end year of the scheme. At the same time, a new Pinel Plus (+) scheme has been introduced to obtain the same benefits as the old Pinel, but the eligibility conditions are much stricter than before: the property must now have an excellent energy performance and be located in a priority area defined by the municipality.
The reasons for the cessation
A too costly scheme! The end of the Pinel has been confirmed by the public authorities, who consider it not effective enough considering the heavy public spending it generates.
